About Dr. Jennifer Hahm

I believe that therapy provides a space to examine present and past circumstances contributing to stress and challenges. It can help in finding the path towards one’s goals, values, and wellbeing.

I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology in 2012 from the Michigan School of Psychology and my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University in 2018. I have worked in outpatient clinic, psychiatric hospital, academic medical center, and university settings providing therapy and psychological assessment.

My therapeutic approach is primarily psychodynamic and humanistic, and is informed by positive psychology, acceptance, and mindfulness practices.

Therapy can be a place where you give back to yourself; one of the highest forms of self-care.

Leading you to therapy may be anxiety, depression, relationship stress, past or recent trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, or challenges with family, parents, or parenting. No matter what is contributing to the stress you are experiencing, you do not have to navigate it alone. You can give yourself the time and space to make progress towards wellness and peace.

Areas of Focus

  • Therapy for Healthcare Providers and Students

The work you do and care you provide for others may be leading you to seek therapy. It may be burnout, compassion fatigue, imposter syndrome, people-pleasing tendencies, or perfectionism. You may be in pre-professional school, training, or reflecting on a long career had in healthcare; wherever you are, we can address the unique stressors of your professional environment, as well as the challenges you may be facing in other areas of your life.

  • Therapy for Infertility and IVF Experiences

Research shows that stress does not cause infertility. However, infertility and challenges in building a family can absolutely cause stress. Therapy can provide space to hold the many emotions that arise from navigating infertility and it can help to work with a provider who has knowledge and understanding of infertility treatments and specific interventions.

  • Therapy for Second Generation In Immigrant Families

Those identifying as second-generation in immigrant families are born in the U.S. and had at least one parent born abroad. Navigating multiple cultures and cultural expectations, feeling like a foreigner in one’s home country, and strain in family relationships can be some of the challenges of this experience. Therapy can be helpful in unpacking and processing this part of one’s identity.
